(Lack of) diversity in UK production

My second post in two days basically pinching something from Adeel Amini’s Facebook page:

  1. Only 9 out of 1077 (0.8%) films in a ten year period were directed by some British East / South East Asian person.
  2. “Despite Asian people being the largest ethnic minority group in the UK, making up 7.5 per cent of the population, an Ofcom report in 2018 illustrated that they are the least represented of any group on TV in the UK.”

Full reports here and here. This general subject was fairly well covered by The Conversation earlier this year though it didn’t really touch on gender imbalances too much.
